🚗 Still Floating Even After Signing the Contract
Even after signing the contract for the Seven, it still didn’t feel real.
Maybe this is what people mean when they say they’re floating on air.
It was a feeling I hadn’t experienced in a long time.
Still, as I worked through the practical tasks—parking certificate, ownership transfer, settling the remaining balance—there were moments when reality would suddenly tap me on the shoulder.
Originally, I had planned to finish building the garage shed first, and then take my time looking for a Seven.
My usual habit of putting things off…
But I never imagined it would happen the other way around.
It was all about timing.
Both joys arrived at once. (Part of me feels it’s a bit of a waste.)
I can’t keep the Seven at home yet, so the shop is holding it for me for a while.
🛠️ Garage Shed Contract, a Long-Awaited Reunion, and… My First Drive!
Around that time, the construction contract for the garage shed was finalized.
The day after I wrapped up a major stretch of work, I finally reunited with the Seven.
This time, my wife came along too.
We visited the shop around noon, and from there, we headed straight out for our very first drive—down to the Bōsō Peninsula.
We were supposed to be back by late afternoon, but before we knew it, we were still driving as the sun went down.

Between Dreaminess and Reality
I had hoped to use the drive to carefully check the Seven’s condition—
how the engine revs up, how the revs drop, the stability of the idle,
the bite of the brakes, the shift feel, any odd vibrations or noises,
the behavior of the suspension…
A proper, deliberate test drive would have been ideal.
But the moment I sank into the seat, I was completely swept away.
There was no room left in my head for anything technical.
(Unfortunately, I could barely give the shop manager any feedback.)
And yet, none of that really mattered.
I was simply having too much fun.
If I could enjoy moments like this every weekend,
then staying in my current job a little longer wouldn’t be bad at all.
That’s how deeply fulfilling the time felt.
Ah… I can’t wait to bring it home.
📝 Next Episode Preview: Episode 5 Is About “Reality”
The next episode will be a very practical one.
It’s about car insurance.
I decided to take out full coverage for the Seven.7
Many of you probably struggle with insurance when buying an older car.
I imagine anyone who buys an older car ends up wrestling with the question of insurance.
There are so many different ways to think about it.
